Mark Well Fylde Mark Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 296

Mark Well Fylde Mark Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 296 On Thursday 27th.September 2018 Fylde Mark Lodge held its first meeting of the 2018/19 season at the Masonic Hall Adelaide Street and as you can see from the attached photos it was well attended.

The lodge was opened at 6.30pm by the Worshipful Master Brother Brian Ogden. Although the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Keith Alan Beardmore is a member of Fylde Lodge the Worshipful Master offered him the gavel of the lodge which the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master politely declined. The Worshipful Master then conducted the domestic items on the agenda.
The usual salutations were given, and suitable responses were made before the main item on the agenda to ballot for and if favourable advance a new member. On an alarm Brother Grant Anthony Thornburrow entered the lodge and the Worshipful Master conducted the first part of the advancement ceremony. For the second part of the ceremony the Worshipful Master was assisted by Worshipful Brother Ernie Gavan Past Grand Standard Bearer who explained the signs, Brother Brian Purdie, who was also acting as Inner Guard, presented the Working Tools and Worshipful Brother Douglas John Forster Past Grand Junior Deacon the Provincial Grand Masters Special Representative on the Fylde conducted the concluding part.

Brother Thornburrow was escorted to a seat in the lodge. The Worshipful Master conducted three more items of a domestic nature. The next item on the agenda was to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Brother Callaghan. Brother Callaghan was escorted to the Worshipful Master who sheepishly asked the Provincial Grand Master to present the Certificate.
The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master presented Brother Callaghan with his Certificate in a manner we have come to expect from our Leader. Under any other business two new candidates were proposed, so more work in the future then. The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master revealed the name of the newly appointed Royal Ark Mariner Ambassador, Worshipful Brother Robert Arrand, now Brethren you know who to contact if you are not yet a member of that wonderful Order.

There being no other business the Worshipful Master closed the lodge. Instead of the usual recession the Brethren remained in the lodge room for the photo-shoot before retiring to the bar / lounge for a quick aperitif. At the festive board we partook of a delicious three course dinner. The measure of a good festive board is the amount of sound generated by the chatter of the Brethren and there was that in abundance. The toasts and responses were dispatched in no time and before long we were making our way home another fine evening of Mark Masonry, in fine company, over.
